I had not planned on eating out, But I could not resist the offerings when I walked into Soul bistro. I enjoyed a hearty meal and the most delicious cornbread I've ever tasted. I make some pretty good cornbread but this cornbread was so moist and sweet. Perfectly cooked meats and many Side dishes to choose from. I must go back and try some more. Definitely recommend for locals and visitors.
We decided to take a vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday. I had no interest in trying to cook a meal while out of state so we did a search for soul food places in the area that could provide us with a nice meal. We ordered a meal comprised of things like greens, rolls, ham, etc. We picked up our meal on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. When we entered, we were cheerfully greeted and welcomed. I was taking pictures for my review-like I do for most places I visit. One of the ladies asked why I was taking pictures, but then she realized and told me to post them on Instagram. Lol! They included a nice card with our meal. That was very thoughtful. We enjoyed our food on Thanksgiving day! It wasn't quite my Mama's food, but it was hearty.
While looking for soul food in or around Destin, Florida, I glanced over and saw the Soul Bistro sign! Because our party of 6 was about to drive an hour one way to Pensacola, we decided to stop in and check out Soul Bistro first, and we are all glad that we did. We were greeted with a smile and told of specials before making our meat selections and choice of sides. The food was delicious and well seasoned. The portions were fair and filling! The owner Valerie was a sweetheart and if we are ever in Destin again, we will look her up!
Run, don't walk to this charming little cafe. I stopped in today after noticing the sign out front and was welcomed warmly and asked how my day was. My day is great now that I've found you lovely ladies and your great food! I grew up on the east coast and had the pleasure of dining on soul food in NYC quite often and these ladies know what they're doing! Hubby had the ribs with collards and black eye peas, an additional side of mac n cheese. I had the smothered pork chops and dear LORD were they good! I had the mashed potatoes and corn. We shared the dinner roll and cornbread. For dessert, we had the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and now we are not only full as ticks but completely satisfied and sick to our stomachs! NOT DUE TO THEIR FOOD, no, due to the fact we couldn't put it down. I saw someone eating meatloaf and that too looked incredibly good and homemade. The ladies there today looked to be a mother and daughter combo and super pleasant. We can't wait to go back and to give them 5-stars when they get wine and beer as the hubby REALLY wanted a beer with this great food. Please give them a try...they are great!
